About Kanimbla Poll Herefords

LOCATION AND GEOGRAPHY

Kanimbla Poll Herefords is situated at Overtoun, a property located near the Hume Highway 13 kilometres north of Holbrook.

CLIMATE

Holbrook has a generally reliable weather pattern with relatively mild winters and hot summers. Most of the rain falls during winter and spring.

DEVELOPEMENT AND AIMS OF KANIMBLA

Our major aim is to produce good reliable bulls for commercial beef producers which are efficient feed converters and which maximise cut out percentages. We want these bulls to be hardy and to have longevity when used correctly.

To achieve this we carefully select genetics and only after looking at hundreds of animals. Click here to view the sires we have or will shortly have in use.

We combine the stud with a good-sized commercial operation. The stud cows run with the commercial cows. Our selection process allows no favouritism for the stud animals. Animals that don’t breed reliably, have inadequate conformation or are not good doers are out. With our females we look for good conformation, good sound udders and meat. We like to get the right cosmetics as a bonus.

We have had 2 annual bull sales. We will not have a bull sale in 2007 because of the move and expect to have the next sale in February 2008. We intend a further sale in Spring 2008 which will sell bulls, females and genetics.
